Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day, written by Elli Salo and directed by Riikka Oksanen, tells the story of people who fled from Finland to the Soviet Union and disappeared in Stalin's purges during the 1930s.
In December 1931, just before the Gulf of Finland freezes over, a group of Finns depart from Tervasaari on a smuggler's boat bound for the Soviet Union. Beyond Lahti lies the promised land of the East - a worker-led society offering work, bread, and a better future. But the migrants who arrive face a very different reality: ordinary people become victims of history's terrible storm, along with their dreams and lives.
The performance is in Finnish. Premiere 19.11.2025, and performances continue on the Small Stage from 10.8.-10.9.2026. Duration 2 h 45 min including intermission, age recommendation 15+. Tickets 24-49 € from the National Theatre and Lippupiste.
