Art History Walking Tours: University Sculpture Collection

This guided tour introduces you to the sculpture collection of the University of Helsinki's main building, which contains historically significant plaster casts of Greek and Roman sculptures. The collection has been assembled since the 1840s and is part of the Science Museum Liekki's holdings. The tour also covers the history of art history and visual arts education, as well as the history of the university's museum collections in Finland.

The tours are organized by the University of Helsinki's Faculty of Humanities, with art history students serving as guides. The summer programme includes a total of 13 different walking tours.

The meeting point is the vestibule/hall of the old side of the main building, Unioninkatu 34. It is recommended to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start. Tours are conducted regardless of weather.
