Annantalo Art Saturday: Glass Paintings in the Spirit of Matisse

At Annantalo's Art Saturday, the whole family can spend time together with art in open workshops accessible to everyone - you can drop by briefly or stay longer.

In his later years, Henri Matisse created a series of blue works exploring the power of form, movement, and colour through simple means. In this workshop, we work in Matisse's spirit by "drawing with scissors": we create our own "glass paintings" by cutting and gluing layers of blue silk paper.

Glass Paintings in the Spirit of Matisse is part of the collaborative artwork Spektri. In autumn 2026, Annantalo's workshops and art groups will create a shared light artwork called Spektri, with parts installed in the windows facing Annankatu, glowing in the colours of the spectrum. The opening of the Spektri light installation is 9.12. at 18:00.

No previous experience is needed to participate, and the workshop suits all languages. If needed, hearing protection and other sensory aids are available for children, and there is also a quiet room. Art Saturday is free and led by Annantalo's art educators.
