Helsinki Experimental Series - Nomads Festival

Helsinki Experimental Series (HES) expands to a larger scale in autumn 2026 when the concept takes the stage at Stoa as part of Nomads Festival on 9 October. The evening lasts three hours.

Curator Sergio Castrillón brings together nine artists from diverse backgrounds. The programme is built on improvised and experimental music alongside multidisciplinary performance art - music, dance, and visual art interact continuously, and performances emerge in the moment without predetermined structures. Castrillón combines Artistic Research, Action Research, and community engagement approaches in his work.

The event is realised in collaboration with the Sibelius Academy's Global Music Department, which contributes some performers as students. The evening thus brings together established professionals and emerging creators.

In the evening's "Blind dates for improvisers" segment, audience members are invited to participate in the performance without prior arrangements. The performers will be announced later in the summer.
