Kaivopuisto Observatory's 100th Anniversary

Ursa celebrates the centennial of Kaivopuisto Observatory with a free public event on 30 August 2026 from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm. The event is also suitable for children.

The programme features a presentation of the observatory's history, introduction to its instruments, and safe solar observation (weather permitting), an art exhibition about the Moon's surface features, a quiz, a virtual tour of the solar system, and the chance to touch a warm meteorite and look through Galileo Galilei's telescope. Experts will be available to answer questions about space and astronomy, and Ursa books will be on sale. The celebration also includes musical performances.

Food is provided by MySate Indonesian Grill. Dry toilets are available on site. Admission is free.
