Mirva Karkinen: Leviatan (Aviador, 2026)

Author Mirva Karkinen visits Oodi to discuss her debut novel Leviatan. The event covers the book's genesis, key themes, and the writing process. Karkinen reads excerpts from the work, and the audience has the opportunity to ask questions.

Leviatan tells the story of women waiting for a breakthrough. Before resolution comes, a person must stretch to the limit - and so sounds echo from women's restrooms. Written with an aggressive and distinctive voice, the novel examines the position of modern women, the invisible structures of power, and misogyny in society's depths. Leviatan is a story about inequality, but above all a plea for empathy.

Mirva Karkinen (born 1994) is a Helsinki-based writer with a master's degree in literature and philosophy who has published feminist literary criticism and essays on the book industry. During the event, signed copies of the book are available for purchase.
