Jyväskylä Big Band: Gems Through the Years - Ilkka Mäkitalo 30 Years as Conductor - Anniversary Concert

October marks the celebration of Ilkka Mäkitalo's 30-year tenure as conductor of Jyväskylä Big Band. Mäkitalo has curated a diverse selection of his favourite pieces from different decades and countries drawn from the rich history of big band music.

Soloists Aili Ikonen and Jukka Perko, who have performed with JBB on several occasions, take the stage. The concert also features the Kipinät choir, returning to songs from a joint tour two years ago. Before the concert, Henriika Steidel-Luoto, former producer of JBB, interviews Mäkitalo about his 30 years at the conductor's podium.
