Author Visit Pertti Sulasalmi

Writer Pertti Sulasalmi presents and discusses his work Stranger Everywhere (Momentum Kirjat 2025) at the music section of Tikkurila Library on Wednesday 11.11 at 17.30. The book explores the migration to Sweden in the 1970s and the subsequent return to Satakunta, Ulvila - a subject rarely addressed in prose works based on personal experience.

In the early 1970s, approximately 100,000 young Finns moved to Sweden, causing Finland's population to decline. The number of return migrants began to increase in the early 1980s, partly due to Finland's rising standard of living. The book's protagonist found it difficult to adapt to life in Pori - he felt like a stranger in his own country, just as he had ten years earlier when moving to Sweden.
