Forgotten Women Scientists

"A great man whose only fault was that he was a woman." With these words, Voltaire described the physicist and mathematician Émilie du Châtelet of the Enlightenment.

This lecture series explores why the achievements of women scientists have been so reluctantly recorded in history books. What is lost when the history of science is told as a history of genius? Do traditions like the Nobel Prize reinforce science's political nature and hero worship?
