Mikkeli Music School - International Voices

The Vilhonkatu chamber orchestra from Mikkeli Music School began collaborating with the Czech art school ZUŠ Frýdek-Místek in 2002, and since 2004 exchanges have taken place regularly in both directions. In spring 2026, the orchestra traveled to the Czech Republic for the seventh time, and along the way stopped in Kaunas, Lithuania - there conductor Olli Helske proposed a concert to the principal of Kaunas 1st Music School. The concert took place, and thus a new international partnership was born.

At the "International Voices" concert on the stage of Martti Talvela Hall, all three orchestras come together: the Vilhonkatu chamber orchestra (Finland), String orchestra ZUŠ Frýdek-Místek (Czech Republic), and Kaunas 1st Music School String Orchestra (Lithuania) with their conductors. The programme features both individual performances by each orchestra and joint performances with two and three orchestras together.
