Opening of Teivo Stairs

The city of Ylöjärvi invites residents to celebrate the opening of the new Teivo stairs on Thursday, 24 September 2026, from 17:00 to 19:00. Opening remarks will be given by Elina Sieppi, chair of the technical committee, at 17:00 at the base of the stairs.

The event features two guided stair-training sessions: an instructor from Tampere Workers' Institute leads ten-minute workouts at 17:15 (easier level) and 17:45 (more challenging), starting from the bottom of the stairs. Kangoo Jump Ylöjärvi presents kangaroo-hopping from 18:00 at the top of the stairs near Lamminpää cottage, and after the presentation, interested participants can try Kangoo Jumps shoes under guidance. Instruction on using the outdoor fitness equipment at the top of the stairs is available on site.

The café at Lamminpää cottage is open throughout the event and offers free juice to opening participants. Lamminpään Korpi sports club operates the saunas from 17:00 to 19:30: the women's sauna accommodates ten people and the men's sauna twenty at a time.

At the city of Ylöjärvi's tent, visitors can learn about plans for the new Teivo-Mäkkylä residential area and vote on a tree to be planted in the playground.

The Teivo stairs were renovated in summer 2026 and opened for use in late July. The stairs have 124 steps and two landing platforms. They are 2.5 metres wide - roughly one metre wider than the old stairs - with steel grating steps, wooden railings, and panels. LED strips run along the underside of the railings on both sides to improve visibility in darkness. The stairs are located at Velodromintie, 33420 Ylöjärvi.
