Interpreter Baptism 2026 HUMAKO x O´Diako

Interpreter Baptism is an appro-event organized by HUMAKO and O´Diako for interpreter students - both first-year and senior students. The event takes place on Thursday 24.9. from 17:00 to 21:00 in central Helsinki and begins and ends at Vanha Kirkko Park (Plague Park). 🤟

During the appro portion, participants visit bars and complete challenges at stations throughout the city center, collecting stamps and points in their appro-pass. Bar purchases automatically earn 50 points, while station challenges earn 1-100 points per station - stations are run by organizations related to the interpreting profession. Participants can join in groups of up to 6 people, with each group sharing one appro-pass. The group or individual collecting the most points receives a prize. 😇

By 21:00, everyone returns to Vanha Kirkko Park, where interpreter oaths from HUMAKO and O´Diako are taken in succession, followed by participants being baptized with a spray bottle - baptism is optional. The event also features a costume contest: the theme is your favorite holiday, and overalls work as a dress code too.

Ticket price: 4 € for members of HUMAKO, O´Diako, and the opku+ network (HUMAKO, O´Diako, Laureamko, Helga, METKA, JAMKO, ASK, TUO) | 8 € for non-members. The event can be completed alcohol-free.
