Archives Day at SKS

The Finnish Literature Society's archive materials are preserved in grey boxes that hold countless stories. What events, experiences, and life paths do these materials capture - and what feelings does their organization awaken in archive researchers?

In the "Grey Box" presentation, researchers bring to light fascinating historical figures whose lives have left traces in the archive. The presentation draws inspiration from the Helsinki Newspaper's "Black Box" series. During the evening, four presentations take audiences to the sinking of the Titanic, early 20th-century Paris, the German bombing raids of World War II, and familiar Helsinki streets. The audience gets a glimpse behind the scenes of archive work and hears stories from archivists about the collections of both SKS and Svenska litteratursällskapet i Finland.
