Ian Gillan is a British rock vocalist best known as the frontman of Deep Purple. His powerful voice drives classics like "Smoke on the Water" and "Child in Time", and he has sung with the band across several stints since the early 1970s. He also played Jesus Christ in the original recording of Jesus Christ Superstar in 1970.
