Deep Purple is a British hard rock band formed in 1968, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of heavy metal and hard rock. Their catalogue includes classics like Smoke on the Water and Highway Star, and they have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016 and has toured almost continuously across several decades.
