Janne Westerlund (born 1973, Hamina) is a Finnish musician, songwriter and visual artist best known as a long-standing member of the experimental rock band Circle and as a founder of Plain Ride. His solo career, launched in 2012, spans six albums that draw on folk, blues and a distinctly Finnish lyrical sensibility; across all his projects he has appeared on roughly 50 records.
Westerlund released his sixth solo album 'Sisar' on 7 November 2025 via If Society, receiving a four-star review from Helsingin Sanomat.
Noise.fi reviewed 'Sisar', rating it 3.5/5 and describing it as an ambitious attempt to capture something essential about the present moment.
The single 'Pyhyys ja kauhu' from 'Sisar' was released ahead of the album in October 2025.
Westerlund released his fifth solo album 'Talvikaravaani' in September 2023 on If Society, his first album sung entirely in Finnish.
