Jolly Jumpers is a Finnish alternative rock band from Tyrnävä, near Oulu, founded in 1980 by singer-guitarist Petri Hannus, bassist Marko Leuanniemi and drummer Keijo Pirkola. Their sound - variously tagged 'tundra garage', 'swamp blues' and 'alternative country' - has earned them cult status in Finland over four decades. The 2006 album Mobile Babylon is widely considered one of the best Finnish records of the 2000s, and the band's ninth album Rural Slang (2025) debuted at number one on the Finnish physical albums chart.
The long-sold-out 2006 album Mobile Babylon was reissued on limited vinyl in November 2025, remastered by Jürgen Hendlmeier and accompanied by a new interview zine and previously unseen archive photos.
Rural Slang, the band's ninth studio album, was released in April 2025 on If Society and debuted at number one on the Finnish physical albums chart, receiving five stars in nearly all reviews.
Release shows in Helsinki, Tampere and Oulu sold out quickly in spring 2025.
Rural Slang marks the first Jolly Jumpers album to feature both Arimatti Jutila (ex-Flaming Sideburns) and Jukka Nousiainen (Räjäyttäjät) alongside the original trio, and reunites the band with producer Jürgen Hendlmeier.
In June 2024, Rumba reported that Jolly Jumpers had finished recording their ninth full-length album, to be released by If Society - their first record since Fantom Zone in 2008.
