Tumppi Varonen celebrates his 70th birthday at Tavastia with Kärtsy Hatakka and Pelle Miljoona. Classic songs from several decades on the programme.
Kärtsy Hatakka (born 1967 in Helsinki) is the vocalist, bassist and chief songwriter of Waltari, the experimental metal band he co-founded in 1986. Waltari were among the first Finnish rock acts to break into European markets, signing with Roadrunner Records in 1992, and their genre-defying crossover - metal colliding with hip hop, techno, industrial and classical music - has kept them a cult name for nearly four decades. Beyond Waltari, Hatakka has composed for symphony orchestras, Jorma Uotinen's ballet productions and the Max Payne video game series, and he also tours Finland as a solo troubadour.
Waltari's thirteenth studio album 'Nations' Neurosis' received a review from Metal Express Radio, which noted the record as one of the band's most personal and keyboard-driven releases to date.
Waltari released their thirteenth studio album 'Nations' Neurosis' on 16 May 2025 via Metalville Records.
Waltari played a series of Finnish release shows for 'Nations' Neurosis', including dates in Tampere, Helsinki and Lappeenranta.
Hatakka appeared as a contestant on the ninth season of the Finnish TV singing competition 'Tähdet, tähdet' on Nelonen.
Waltari announced a special 30th anniversary concert for their landmark album 'Big Bang' at On The Rocks, Helsinki on 20 September 2025, featuring the original 1995 lineup.
