About

Lawrence English (born 1976, Brisbane) is an Australian composer, sound artist and curator whose work sits at the intersection of drone, electroacoustic music and field recording. He founded the influential experimental label Room40 in 2000, which has released work by Tim Hecker, Ben Frost, William Basinski and many others. Over more than two decades he has collaborated with artists including Merzbow, Loscil and Alessandro Cortini, building a body of work that probes how sound physically occupies space and the body.
