Maksim Vitorgan (born 10 September 1972 in Moscow) is a Russian actor, theatre and television director, and TV presenter. The son of celebrated Soviet actors Emmanuil Vitorgan and Alla Balter, he graduated from GITIS in 1993 and went on to perform at the Moscow Youth Theatre, Lenkom, and the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre. He gained wide public recognition through his long-running collaboration with the comedy theatre group Kvartett I - above all for his role as DJ Max in the films Election Day and Radio Day - and has since accumulated over 100 film and television credits. Since February 2022 he has publicly opposed Russia's war in Ukraine.
Vitorgan and Victoria Tolstoganova are scheduled to bring the play Gromkiye to five US cities in September-October 2026: New York, Miami, Boston, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
The Helsinki premiere of Gromkiye at Savoy-teatteri on 24 January 2026 sold out.
Vitorgan and Tolstoganova performed Gromkiye in Helsinki on 20 December 2025, part of a tour spanning Finland, Germany, Australia, Spain and other countries.
Vitorgan disclosed in March 2025 that he had undergone surgery after fracturing his shoulder during a rehearsal.
Vitorgan was reportedly replaced by a deepfake in the second season of the Russian TV series Contact, allegedly because of his public anti-war stance.
