About

Octoploid is the solo band of Finnish bassist and multi-instrumentalist Olli-Pekka 'Oppu' Laine, best known as a founding member and current bassist of Amorphis and a member of Barren Earth. Founded in 2022, the project blends 90s death/black metal with 70s prog rock and psychedelic textures - a sound the band itself calls 'Classic Death Prog'. The debut album 'Beyond The Aeons' came out in July 2024 on Reigning Phoenix Music, featuring guest vocalists including Amorphis frontman Tomi Joutsen and Swallow The Sun's Mikko Kotamäki, who also handles live vocal duties.
