Rattus is a Finnish hardcore punk band formed in 1978 in Vilppula, widely regarded as one of the founding forces of Finnish hardcore. Active through the early 1980s underground scene, the band split in 1988 and reformed in 2001, going on to tour in over 25 countries and earning cult status in international HC-punk circles. Their 2023 album 'Rikki' marked a return after a decade-long gap between studio records.
Rattus released a music video for 'Repii Rikki', compiled from footage shot on their 2023 Brazilian tour (Finnish Invasion) and the Finnish 'Rikki' release tour.
The album 'Rikki' was released on November 13, 2023 via Finnish Hardcore, marking the band's first studio LP in ten years and serving as bassist Tomppa's farewell after 45 years with the band.
New bassist Jeekki joined Rattus in 2023, replacing the retiring Tomppa.
'Rikki' came with a bonus CD 'Laulajat On Sairaita' featuring Rattus classics performed by Finnish guest vocalists including Marko Annala (Mokoma) and Jouni Hynynen (Kotiteollisuus).
