Pekka Töpöhäntä
Nenäinniemitalo, Nenäinniemen päiväkoti, Jyväskylä
A small cat named Pekka ends up as a stowaway traveling from the countryside to the city and finds a home with a kind family. Settling in doesn't go entirely smoothly, because despite his gentle nature, Pekka has an unusual tail - small and stubby. Monni, the most beautiful cat in Uppsala, takes Pekka under her wing along with Pille and Pulle, but kindness and acceptance from the cat community ultimately overcome bullying.
AdAstra Theatre's production brings to the stage Pekka, Monni, Pille and Pulle, Maija Maitoparva and many other characters that have delighted children since 1939. Expect cat adventures, cat championships, a few dogs and unexpected friends. The play is a dramatization by Niko Taskinen and directed by Erika Hast.
AdAstra Theatre last performed Pekka Töpöhäntä exactly 10 years ago, in 2016 - also under Erika's direction. That production set a theatre attendance record that still stands today.
