Wivi & Hanna

Teatterikone's Wivi & Hanna premiered in 2021 and quickly gained widespread acclaim. Now the production returns as a refreshed summer theatre version in the garden of Villa Rana.

The play tells the story of architect Wivi Lönn and Hanna Parviainen, who met each other at the turn of the last century. Their partnership drew disapproval, yet remained strong until the end - while both women built their careers in a male-dominated world despite being underestimated. As individuals they were opposites, but that very quality bound them together and drove them to forge a path for each other as well. The production was inspired by Pirkko Soininen's work "Rooms Built of Light" and supported by the Arts Promotion Centre Central Finland.
