Dance and Nature Workshops for Grades 3-6 — Vuotalo, Helsinki

These workshops introduce participants to different ways of dancing and moving - alone and together. Sessions are held both in Vuotalo's Pikkasali and in forests near the Vuosaari area. Participants create their own dances and short performances on various themes, and can bring their own music and dance ideas.

The workshops are led by dance artist and dance pedagogue Jenni Koistinen, and dance artist and choreographer Virva Talonen. During the autumn, researchers Anna Rainio and Tuija Kasa will also visit the workshops. The workshops are part of the "Art of Knowing" project at the University of Helsinki, funded by the Kone Foundation. Participants are welcome to take part in the project's research if they wish - for more information: anna.rainio@helsinki.fi.

The workshops are aimed at all students in grades 3-6 interested in dance, performance, and nature. No previous dance experience is required. Instruction takes place in Finnish, and in Swedish and English if needed. Participants are expected to commit to attending the autumn sessions.

Workshops meet on Thursdays from 16:30 to 17:30. Dates: 20.8, 27.8, 3.9, 10.9, 17.9, 24.9, 1.10, 8.10, 22.10, 29.10, and 5.11.2026. No session on Thursday during the autumn break week on 15.10.
