Dance and Nature Workshops - For Young People and Adults
ilmainen
The workshops introduce different ways to dance and move in your own style. Activities take place both in Vuotalo's Pikkasali and in nearby forests in the Vuosaari area. Key themes include moving together through dance tasks, games and play, as well as exploring the forest and its ecosystem.
The workshops are led by dance artist and dance pedagogue Jenni Koistinen and dance artist and choreographer Virva Talonen. Throughout the autumn, researchers Anna Rainio and Tuija Kasa will also visit, exploring themes that emerge in the workshops. The workshops are part of the University of Helsinki's "Art of Knowing" project, funded by the Kone Foundation. Participants are welcome to take part in the research - for more information: anna.rainio@helsinki.fi.
The workshops are open to all young people and adults interested in dance and nature. No previous dance experience is needed. Instruction is in Finnish, and also available in Swedish and English if needed. Participants are expected to commit to all sessions throughout the autumn term.
Workshops meet on Thursdays from 18:00 to 19:30. Dates: 20.8, 27.8, 3.9, 10.9, 17.9, 24.9, 1.10, 8.10, 22.10, 29.10 and 5.11.2026 (not 15.10). Exact meeting locations will be announced to registered participants before the course begins.
