Peer Günt celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026 with the 50th Anniversary Tour. The band achieved success in 1984 at the Rockin SM competition, where it competed with acts including Kolmas Nainen. The debut album Peer Günt was released in 1985, and albums followed steadily until the mid-90s. After a break at the turn of the millennium, the band returned in 2005 with the album No Piercing, No Tattoo - after an eleven-year recording hiatus. With a new lineup, they took the stage again in 2006, and since then have released the albums Guts and Glory (2007), Buck the Odds (2009), and the live album Live Today, Gone Tomorrow (2011).
Their best-known songs include Backseat, Bad Boys are here, Bartender, and I Don't Wanna Be a Rock'n'Roll Star. Guitarist and vocalist Timo Nikki talks about the shows: "The vibe is good and we're ready to give everything so the audience gets value for their money. We focus on the trio band's strengths - pure music, as always - so don't expect any circus tricks. The shows will feature Peer Günt's music from the beginning to today. This is not only our band's 50th anniversary year but also mine, Sakke's, and Pete's 20th anniversary tour."
Lineup: Timo Nikki (guitar, vocals), Pete Pohjanniemi (bass, backing vocals), Sauli "Sakke" Koivula (drums, backing vocals).
