Risto Kangas's multilingual poetry collection Amor y Pasión, poemas en cinco idiomas is presented on the 3rd floor of Oodi library on the Saarikoski mat on Wednesday 19.8.2026 at 17:00.

Kangas wrote the poems in Spanish and translated them into Finnish, English, German, and French. During the event, he will read poems in all five languages. The collection's themes include love, longing, admiration, pain, the horrors of war, environmental concern, joy, and compassion.

Kangas built his career as a teacher of German, Swedish, and information technology in Finland, then continued as a language teacher at the Finnish school on the Costa del Sol in Fuengirola. A cancer diagnosis and recovery in Spain inspired him to write poetry - the work is also a testament to his love of Spanish culture.

For the book's illustrations, Kangas selected works by his friend Matti Metsämaa and his former schoolmate Maija Lakio-Haapion. The abundant illustrations make the collection exceptional in its genre.
