Proyecciones: A Flamenco Evening

Proyecciones is a dance evening presenting solos from both young and experienced flamenco dancers, as well as excerpts from the contemporary flamenco work Criaturas. The evening is dedicated to dancer Laura Rintamäki, who has significantly shaped the development of flamenco in Finland.

The solos are built on elements of traditional flamenco. Some of the solos were created in a solo project initiated by Laura Rintamäki and Laura Vilhonen, where dancers developed their solos under the guidance of various choreographers - now Vilhonen completes the project and the solos receive their world premiere. Some of the solos are the work of flamenco dancers Minna Saalpo and Camila Laine.

Alongside the solos, excerpts from the contemporary flamenco work Criaturas are presented, created by Marja Rautakorpi together with the young flamenco group Adelante. The work examines the individual in the world's accelerating rhythm and asks why individuals are driven apart at a time when we need each other. The music was composed by sound designer Juho Suominen. Adelante is a group of nine advanced flamenco dancers aged 15-35, which emerged from a year-long pilot project led by Rautakorpi.
