KLONK: Summers Like a Dream - Farewell Concert

The Klemetti Institute's women's choir KLONK presents its farewell concert at Meilahti Church under the direction of Marjukka Riihimäki. The concert marks the end of Riihimäki's long career as a choir conductor - and takes place in the church where her career once began.

Music Advisor Riihimäki has led KLONK since 1988. Earlier, she had a long career with the Helsinki choirs Philomela and Grex Musicus from the 1980s to the early 2020s, and served as choir director and music teacher at Sibelius High School. She has been awarded, among other honours, the Pro Finlandia Medal and the Finnish Cultural Foundation's Grand Prize.

The programme features choral works by composers Hanni Autere, Toni Edelmann, Anna-Mari Kähärä, and Latvian Eriks Esenvalds. Also included are hymn arrangements by Ilmo Riihimäki, who worked as cantor at Meilahti Parish from 1974 to 1992.
