Dance and Nature Workshops - for Grades 3-6

The workshops are aimed at students in grades 3-6 who are interested in dance, performance, or nature. No previous dance experience is required. The workshops are led in Finnish, and in English and Swedish if needed.

In the workshops, we explore different ways to dance and move, both alone and together. We create our own dances and small performances, and you can bring your own music and dance ideas. We meet both in the dance studio and in the forests around Vuosaaren. During the autumn, researchers Anna Rainio and Tuija Kasa will visit the workshops to discuss themes that emerge - and if you wish, you can also participate in their research (more information: anna.rainio@helsinki.fi).

The workshops are led by dancer and dance educator Jenni Koistinen and dancer and choreographer Virva Talonen. The workshops are part of the "Art of Knowing" project at the University of Helsinki, funded by the Kone Foundation.

The workshops take place in Vuotalo's small hall and in the forests around Vuosaaren. Meeting locations will be announced in more detail before the course begins. We hope participants will be committed throughout the autumn.

⏰ Thursdays 16:30-17:30: 17.9., 24.9., 1.10., 8.10., 22.10., 29.10., and 5.11.2026. No session on Thursday during the autumn break week on 15.10.
