Dance and Nature Workshops - for Grades 3-6
ilmainen
The workshops are aimed at students in grades 3-6 who are interested in dance, performance, or nature. No previous dance experience is required.
In the workshops, participants will explore different ways to dance and move, both individually and together. Classes are held in the dance studio and in the forests near Vuosaari. Participants create their own dances and short performances on various themes - they can also bring their own music and dance ideas. Throughout the autumn, researchers Anna Rainio and Tuija Kasa will visit the workshops to discuss the themes that emerge.
The workshops are led by dancer and dance educator Jenni Koistinen, and dancer and choreographer Virva Talonen. The workshops are part of the University of Helsinki's "Art of Knowing" project, funded by the Kone Foundation. Participants are welcome to take part in the project's research if they wish - for more information about the research: anna.rainio@helsinki.fi.
The workshops are held in Vuotalo's Pikkusali and in the forests near Vuosaari. The exact meeting places will be announced to registered participants before the course begins. We hope participants will be committed throughout the autumn. The workshops are conducted in Finnish, and in Swedish and English if needed.
