Dance and Nature Workshops - For Young People and Adults
ilmainen
The workshops combine dance and the nature surrounding Vuosaari - meetings are held both in the dance studio and in nearby forests. Movement is explored through dance tasks, games, and play, with the forest and its ecosystem as a central theme.
Dance artist and dance pedagogue Jenni Koistinen and dance artist and choreographer Virva Talonen serve as instructors. Throughout the autumn, researchers Anna Rainio and Tuija Kasa visit the workshops to discuss topics that emerge during the sessions.
The workshops are part of the University of Helsinki's "Art of Knowing" project, funded by the Kone Foundation, where researchers and dance artists together develop participatory methods in which play, embodiment, and nature are sources of knowledge. Participants are welcome to take part in the research - for more information: anna.rainio@helsinki.fi.
The workshops are open to all young people and adults interested in dance and nature, and no previous dance experience is required. Instruction takes place in Finnish, and in Swedish and English if needed. Participants are expected to commit to all sessions throughout the autumn.
