Still I Can

Still I Can is an intense monologue about visual artist Elin Danielson-Gamboa (1861-1919), who belonged to a pioneering generation of Finnish women artists who studied in Paris and built independent, international careers. She lived life on her own terms, broke established boundaries, and was herself an example of the independent "new woman". The monologue tells the story of an artist who refuses to be overshadowed by men, marriage, or oblivion.

Based on a text by Heikki Lund, the production is brought to Jyväskylä by Nadja Tuoriniemi - a poet and theatre maker who spent her childhood and youth in Central Finland. The performance takes place on the stage of Teatteri Villa Valo on Naissaari island.
