Auri is a Finnish progressive folk trio formed by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Johanna Kurkela, Nightwish keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen (her husband), and Irish multi-instrumentalist Troy Donockley. The band released its self-titled debut on Nuclear Blast in 2018, followed by two further albums, and spent years as a purely studio project before finally taking the stage for the first time in 2025.
Auri's third album, III - Candles & Beginnings, was released on August 15, 2025 via Nuclear Blast.
Auri performed live for the first time ever, launching their debut European tour in Finland in August 2025.
The lead single 'Shieldmaiden' was released in May 2025 with a music video directed by Ville Lipiäinen.
Auri announced summer festival appearances for 2026 as a follow-up to their 2025 European tour.
Songwriting for the third album began in 2023, with Troy Donockley working in Yorkshire and Tuomas Holopainen and Johanna Kurkela writing in Kitee, Finland.
