Belphegor is an Austrian black/death metal band from Salzburg, founded in 1991 under the name Betrayer and renamed in 1993. Guitarist and vocalist Helmuth Lehner has led the band through twelve studio albums, building a sound that fuses death metal brutality with black metal ritual darkness. Albums such as Pestapokalypse VI (2006), Conjuring the Dead (2014) and The Devils (2022) have charted internationally and cemented the band's reputation as one of Austria's most prominent extreme metal acts - a standing confirmed by the 2023 Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the Hard and Heavy category.
