Dark Funeral is a Swedish black metal band from Stockholm, founded in 1993 by guitarists Lord Ahriman and Blackmoon. Their 1996 debut full-length 'The Secrets of the Black Arts' established them as one of the defining acts of the second wave of black metal, and seven studio albums later they remain one of the genre's most active touring forces. The band is known for blistering tempos, anti-Christian lyrics and a relentless live presence across three decades.
Dark Funeral released their live album 'A Beast To Praise (Live in Stockholm)' on August 21, 2026 via Century Media Records, documenting their 2022 Stockholm show in support of 'We Are The Apocalypse'.
Dark Funeral are set to support Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir on the 'In League With Satan' European tour in autumn 2026, including a date in Helsinki on October 27.
Lord Ahriman confirmed the band is already working on new studio material, with their next album planned for 2027.
Dark Funeral launched their first European headline tour in eight years in January 2025, celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut Mini-CD with Fleshgod Apocalypse, Ex Deo and Kami No Ikari as support.
Dark Funeral released a 30th Anniversary Edition of their self-titled debut Mini-CD via Century Media Records in August 2024, including newly re-recorded tracks remixed by David Castillo.
