About

Eppu Normaali is a Finnish rock band founded in 1976 in Ylöjärvi, near Tampere, by brothers Martti Syrjä (vocals) and Mikko "Pantse" Syrjä (guitar), their cousin Aku Syrjä (drums), Juha Torvinen (guitar) and Mikko Saarela (bass). Starting out as a new-wave punk act, the band shifted toward melodic guitar rock in the early 1980s and became the best-selling music artist in Finnish history, with certified sales of nearly two million records. Their Finnish-language lyrics - sharp, socially aware and often wryly humorous - helped define the suomirock genre, and the band has received the Emma Award for Band of the Year (1986) and the Finnish Board of Education's Suomi Prize (2009).

    A small additional batch of tickets for all five farewell concerts was released on 19 May 2026, after the original run of over 100,000 tickets had sold out.

    The band announced summer 2026 festival appearances including Provinssi (Seinäjoki), Tammerfest (Tampere), Kuopiorock and SuomiPop-festivaali as part of the farewell tour.

    On 23 October 2025, Eppu Normaali announced they would retire from live performances after their 50th anniversary, with the final concert set for 8 August 2026 at Tampere's Ratina stadium.

    Tickets for the farewell concerts at Helsinki's Bolt Arena (6 June 2026) and Tampere's Ratina stadium (8 August 2026) sold out immediately when sales opened on 28 October 2025, prompting three additional dates.

    The band's 40th anniversary was marked with a documentary film (Eput, dir. Saku Pollari), a book, a photo exhibition and a sold-out stadium concert at Ratina with over 30,000 spectators.
