Towards the Unknown - Workshop - Visual and Word Art Classes for Schoolchildren

The Towards the Unknown workshop combines visual and word art around an exhibition of illustrations by Pasi Pitkänen. The workshop is aimed at pupils in grades 3-6, the teaching language is Finnish, and the total duration is 1.5 hours.

The class is divided in half: half start with the word art workshop and half with the visual art workshop, after which the groups swap places. This way, everyone works both verbally and visually.

Journey on the Snake Train - word art session introduces pupils to the book Ouroboros by Silja Sillanpää and Pasi Pitkänen. During the session, pupils complete word art tasks, solve riddles, and write a short travel story - activities with an escape-game flavour structure the work.

Rainbow Snake - visual art session begins by exploring Pitkänen's snake characters. Pupils practise drawing scales and together create a Rainbow Snake with pastels, piece by piece, which is displayed as part of the exhibition in Vuotalo's foyer.

The workshops are held on Mondays from 9:00-10:30 and 11:00-12:30 on the following dates: 17.8., 24.8., 31.8., 7.9., 14.9. and 21.9. Registration at kultus.hel.fi.
