Daniel Palpa: Between Two Rivers
ilmainen
Daniel Palpa's ceramic sculptures explore expressions of bicultural identity. The artist draws on traditional ceramic forms from Peru and blends them with his own everyday experiences - the works comment on contemporary concerns through color and chaotic forms.
Behind the pieces lies a synthesis of two continents' cultures and histories. Arriving in Finland as a child created an inner isolation that has traveled alongside South American roots, shaping a third, distinctive cultural perspective.
This space between two cultures functions in the works either as a source of creativity or as an identity desert. What remains is a hybrid form of cultural life that draws strength from the friction between different values and challenges established assumptions - an experience familiar to many bicultural children and adults in Finland.
