Living Tailored Tradition

The exhibition showcases Hungarian folk costumes and accessories from the Forgatós folk dance group's collection. The costumes reflect peasant and folk culture from the 18th and 19th centuries: the exhibition displays clothing from market town residents, mountain shepherds, the bourgeoisie, and rural communities, and highlights the differences between everyday and festive wear as well as children's clothing.

The exhibition is based on the collecting work of László Doktor and Andrea Doktor - the leader of the Forgatós dance group in Makó and his wife. In addition to the costumes, numerous accessories are on display.

The exhibition is open 14.8.-18.9.2026 in the Liszt Institute's U Gallery. Free admission. The exhibition is part of the Helsinki Design Week programme.
