Kat Baloun | Unna & Helge Tallqvist Band

Two blues soloists take the stage at Malmitalo: American Kat Baloun and Unna Kortehisto with her band Unna & Helge Tallqvist Band.

Kat Baloun was born in El Paso, Texas, spent her youth in Cincinnati, Ohio and now lives in Berlin. She began her professional career in the early 1990s in San Francisco, performing with local legend Elmer Lee Thomas. In 1994 she moved to Berlin. Since then she has toured Europe and recorded albums with Nina and Eb Davis, Chris Rannenberg and Finnish Tomi Leino Trio. In Finland, Kat performs with the band The Frostbites - Jonne Kulluvaara (guitar), Jaska Prepula (bass) and Micha Maass (drums) - with whom she recorded her live album in 2024.

In Unna & Helge Tallqvist Band, Unna Kortehisto is the vocalist, also known from the band Saimaa. The other band members are Helge Tallqvist (harmonica), Jonne Kulluvaara (guitar), Jaska Prepula (bass) and Tyko Haapala (drums).
