Maija Albrecht - Graphics

Maija Albrecht works with dry-point engraving at the copper plate - a technique demanding slow, precise concentration. The graphic artworks on display build from details: fine lines, subtle shifts in tone that together form a complete image.

According to Albrecht, careful observation is the foundation of all learning. The surface structure of a beetle or a nuance in a grasshopper's sound can carry meanings that reveal themselves only to the attentive viewer.

Albrecht was born in Turku in 1967 and currently lives in Inkoo. She studied at Kankaanpää School of Art and graduated with a master's degree in visual art from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1998. Her exhibition career began in 1991, and her works are held in several art collections in Finland and abroad.

During Gallery Week 21-27.9, an artist talk is held on 22.9 at 5 pm, and the Insect Academy on 27.9 at 1 pm. The exhibition is open 3-27.9.2026, free admission.
