Professor Tiina Kinnunen: Women in the History of Independent Finland - A Multivocal History

Tiina Kinnunen is a professor of Finnish and Northern European history at the University of Oulu. She specializes in women's and gender history of the 19th and 20th centuries in Finland and elsewhere in Europe, as well as the social and cultural history of war. She has particularly studied the history of European feminism and Lotta Svard, women's role as historians, and the uses of history and memory culture. Her latest work examines the history of Oulu from a women's perspective.

The lecture is part of the Kotkaniemi Museum's "Independent Finland" lecture series. Note: lectures are not held at Kotkaniemi but at separately announced venues in Lappeenranta and Luumäki.
