Mila Milax: Soul of Helsinki - Study of soul from a city perspective

Soul of Helsinki is a photographic study of the city that examines Helsinki's identity, people, and spaces.

In this city, much is possible. A city that is both an individual and collective experience, which each of us lives in our own way. The daily metro commute, breakfast by the shore, evening cycling, a cafe where you always get advice, beloved people, young people dancing in squares, a favorite place to create, a friend of a friend you are about to meet, a hidden gem, a street you walk to work on, and a new possibility every day.

In her photographs, Mila explores the soul of Helsinki by blending different media, layers of reality, empty streets, creative people, and their dreams into one whole. Everything here is connected, but how do you feel you are part of these spaces and communities? What do these spaces contain and what do people create? How do we live and breathe this culture by creating connections with each other? The answer to this is already within you - you can be anyone and still be a Helsinkian. To belong.

Soul of Helsinki debuted at Stoa in 2024. In recent years I have gathered more observations. New streets I have walked, people I have met, and connections I have found. New inspiration from Helsinki, freshly mixed. A study of the soul from the city's perspective.
