Sediments of Summer

Sediments of Summer: Towards a Speculative Ecology is Amado Peñan's first solo exhibition at Levyhalli in Suomenlinna. The exhibition creates an environment through monoliths built with earthwork techniques, subsonic sound, filtered light, and interventions by invited artists - shaped by layering, compression, and transformation.

The works draw from geological processes and material traces of human activity, sketching a landscape between ruins and construction. Earth functions as both archive and building material, sound evokes forces of fracture and displacement, and light moves through the space as a shifting presence. Throughout the exhibition, invited artists make interventions in the installation, adding new layers to its ongoing sedimentation.

The exhibition examines ecology as a process of layering and transformation - how environments are formed, change, and pass from one generation to the next.
