Sediments of Summer — Levyhalli, Helsinki

Sediments of Summer: Towards a Speculative Ecology is Amado Peñan's first solo exhibition at Levyhalli in Suomenlinna. Through monoliths built with earthwork technique, subsonic sound, filtered light, and interventions by invited artists, the exhibition constructs an environment shaped by layering, compression, and change.

Works drawing from geological processes and material traces of human activity sketch a landscape situated between ruin and construction. Earth functions as both archive and building material, sound evokes forces of fracture and displacement, and light moves through space as a shifting and directional presence. Throughout the exhibition, invited artists make interventions in the installation, adding new layers to its ongoing sedimentation.

Sediments of Summer examines ecology as a process of layering and transformation. Through earth, sound, light, and collective action, the exhibition considers how environments are formed, change, and pass from one generation to the next.
