Daniel Kruger: Fragments of the Future
ilmainen
Daniel Kruger's work draws from two worlds: his youth spent in South Africa and Namibia, and decades of practice in Germany. The tension between them - nature and culture, history and present, precious and everyday - runs through his entire body of work.
Kruger combines materials without prejudice. Precious metals, gemstones and pearls sit alongside glass, paper, textiles, pigments and found objects. Sculptural jewellery functions simultaneously as body ornament, tactile objects and independent artworks. In his ceramics, history, ornament and contemporary culture take on surprising and playful forms.
Fragments of the Future examines memory, material and the layering of time. For Kruger, the past is not a closed archive - objects, forms and memories can shift into new contexts and move towards the future.
Galleria GAo ShAn, Helsinki. The exhibition is open 21.8.-24.10.2026, Tue-Fri 12-18 and Sat 12-16. Free admission.
