Rita Vargas is a visual artist and PhD in art history, working across sculpture, installation, printmaking and photography. Her work explores migration and diaspora identity through layered imagery and material metaphors - woodcuts, photographic fragments, ceramics and cork combined into symbolic spaces. Portuguese by origin and shaped by Japanese influences, she has lived in Finland for 17 years.
